October Adoption Special! Do you need a special friend? We have a match for you! We have a number of extra special kitties that are waiting patiently for their forever home. Will that be you? For the month of October, all Special Needs cats (including FIV+ cats) and "Longtimer" cats will be half off their regular adoption fee!
Here are just a few of our favorite "special" kitties: View all "Extra Special" Kitties Patience is a sweet girl who has been in the program for several years. She was adopted and later returned when her family moved to Florida. Since she has been with us the second time, she has developed minor urinary leakage - she will leak small amounts of urine when sleeping. We are currently trying her on different medications to help manage this. ************************** Emory II and Keilah are awesome cats who are boyfriend/girlfriend. They absolutely love each other and must be adopted together. Emory is FIV+, but Keilah is not, which is no problem for them living together. Neither cat has any teeth - both of them developed severe stomatitis and had to have all of their teeth out (years apart)! Keilah has minor asthma, and occasionally needs prednisone when she has a flare up. They are extremely loving cats and just need someone to give them a chance. **************************** Mia H came to us when her military family had to move overseas. She had a hard time adjusting to life without her family, but she's now doing well. At a routine vet visit, we discovered that she has some kidney problems, and she is awaiting an ultrasound to learn more. She is eating prescription kidney support food and doing great! *************************** Mr. Bingley is a beautiful boy with the softest fur you've ever felt. He's a gentle soul and is easily startled. It takes him a long time to get used to new people, but once he knows you, he will sit next to you or on your lap and let you pet him gently. He must be adopted with his sister Miss Bennet, as she is very outgoing and really helps him get used to a new place. ****************************** Hank H has never met a stranger and just wants to be loved. He's gentle and easygoing and wants to be petted and cuddled constantly. If you're looking for a cat that will keep you company, he is your man. Because he's so laid back, he would likely do well with children or dogs. Hank is FIV+, but this really hasn't affected him. FIV rarely causes any problems, and cats with FIV typically live long, normal lives. *************************** Scrabble is a big lovebug who has been with us for several years. He's a very easy cat and is happy with whatever is going on. He would love a lap of his very own to sleep on, but he's been overlooked for years because he is both FIV+ and has severe food allergies. The FIV really hasn't caused any problems, but his food allergies require him to be on a special prescription diet. ***************************** Brando K was a shelter favorite before he came to us! Shelter staff begged us to take him after he tested FIV+, since FIV+ cats are typically harder to adopt out. Not because they require any special care, but because of the stigma surrounding FIV. Brando is a sweet boy who loves everyone. He had a lot of teeth removed, and so his tongue often hangs out (very cutely!). ******************************
And a few of our "Longtimers" - cats that have been in the program more than a year: Cree and Cahto are brothers that have been with us for years. They came to us as kittens and are a prime example of how black cats can be so easily overlooked. They are awesome cats and will be great in any home. ************************* Daisy L is a beautiful girl who was rescued several years ago with her kitten Eli L. She can be shy until she gets to know you, so she doesn't "show" well at adoption events, which is why she's been passed over. She has a lot of love to give though, and just needs someone willing to give her a chance. ************************* Jen L was adopted years ago as a kitten and then returned a few years later. She's a good girl who looooves massages and head scratches. She's a beautiful, gentle cat and we can't figure out why no one has adopted her yet! ************************* Miss Marple and Poirot were rescued as kittens with their sisters Mittens and Oxley. Because of their rough start in life, they have a hard time trusting new people, and need someone willing to be patient with them. Once they get to know you, they are great cats. Miss Marple is definitely the one in charge, and they must be adopted together. ************************* Mittens and Oxley were rescued as kittens with their siblings Miss Marple and Poirot. They can be a little shy at first, so they don't "show" well at adoption events, which is why they've been passed over for so long. They are great cats and just need someone willing to give them a few days to adjust to a new environment. Once they get used to you, they are super sweet cats! ************************* Pippa is a sweet girl who needs a quiet home. She can be a little shy until she gets to know you, but once she's used to you, she's super sweet! She loves to be near you and supervise whatever you're doing. ************************* Pistil is the last of his litter! All of his siblings were adopted, but for some reason this handsome man has been overlooked. Pistil is a good boy who gets along well with other cats and needs to be adopted with a buddy. He can be shy until he gets to know you, but once he does, he likes to be involved in whatever you're doing. Pistil would do best in a home without small children. ************************* Meribelle is a sweet girl with attitude! She likes to be the boss of the house and would do well as an only cat. She came to Calvin's Paws with her kittens last year, and while all of her kittens have been adopted, Meribelle has been left behind. She's a great cat, but may not be best for young children. ************************* Godiva Chocolate is a beautiful girl who has been patiently waiting for her forever home for two years now. She's very sweet and loves to play, and generally gets along well with everyone. ************************* |
